FIR lodged against 17 named, 60 unnamed persons for assaulting cops in E Champaran

Motihari : Police on September 12, 2019, evening, lodged an FIR against 17  named persons  and 60 unidentified persons of village Balochak under Chakia police station East Champaran District in North Bihar for assaulting an ASI Dinesh Sharma, and three SAP Jawans on duty on September 11, 2019, at the village.

The FIR was lodged on the statement of ASI, Chakia police station,, Dinesh Sharma, who  along with three SAP Jawans were thrashed  by a mob on September 11. ASI Sharma is  admitted to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), Muzaffarpur, with head injuries.

ASI Sharma, in his statement, has alleged that  the accused persons looted  his cellphone, Rs 2,500 cash, and made
murderous attack on him and the SAP jawans and held them captive for two hours. The mob also  vendalised the
police jeep. Police have arrested  four accused : Samira Khatoon, Afjal, Nur Hasan, and Ibadat,  and remanded them to judicial
custody. The rest of the accused are evading arrest.

It may be recalled that ASI Sharma along with 3 SAP jawans had gone to the house of  one Abid Mian at village Balochak in connection with a complaint he had lodged with police earlier on September 11 about an abandoned  two-wheeler near his house. But as soon as the police team reached the village, the relatives of Abid Mian raised an alarm saying that child lifters  had come. Soon a mob gathered there and started thrashing  the cops.  SDPO, Chakia, with additional force reached the village and rescued the cops after two hours.
