Patna: An FIR has been lodged against 28 people including some women elected panchayat representatives for stripping a woman and parading her in the village after a village panchayat ordered for trimming her hair. Those named in the FIR include women’s husband  too.

The incident took place on August 4 at Piyar village under Bandra police station of Muzaffarpur district. According to the FIR, woman’s husband was allegedly forcing her to sleep with some of his friends,which she refused.He took the issue with the village panchayat and complained against her.The village panchayat ordered trimming of her hair. Her  clothes were ordered to be removed and she was paraded in the entire village in semi-naked condition.The panchayat members teased her and ordered her externment from the village. She took shelter at the house of her sister at Gaighat,Muzaffarpur.

In the FIR registered with Mahila PS , she alleged her husband was liquor addict. Urmila Devi, one of the panchayat members, led the jury to punish her.Those named in the FIR include Kedar Sahni,a former mukhiya of Bandra panchayat, Shivbalak Rai, Moti Sahni, Chand Sahni and over two dozen others.
