FIR against 15 named, 150 unnamed persons for attacking police

Ara : An FIR was lodged with Nawada police station, Ara, on August 18, 2018, evening, against 15 named and 150 unnamed persons on the statement of an ASI Sudin Sada in connection with attack on police force when they had gone to Chandawa Musahar Toli under Nawada police station to conduct raids on August 17 night.

Police had on August 17 arrested 10 of them: Mithlesh Musahar, Gorakh Ram, Lal Bahadur alias Chhotu Musahar, Dasai Ram, Upendra Musahar, Tarkeshwar Ram, Narayan Ram, Siya Ram, Bir Bahadur Ram and Bhuar Ram, and sent them to jail. Police are searching for the remaining accused to arrest them.

SHO, Nawada police station, Subodh Kumar, said that a police team had gone to Chandawa Mushar Toli on August 17 night to conduct raids on a confidential report but the bootleggers and liquor smuggles attacked the police team and also pelted them with stones. They also damaged police vehicles and held a police personnel captive, who was later released after the locals intervened. The bootlegger also thrashed a police personnel and injured at least six police personnel who were  admitted to Sadar Hospital, Ara.

After the police resorted to action, the RJD MLA from Barhara Saroj Yadav alleged that police were harassing the pembers of Mahadalit community in the name prohibition though the bootleggers and liquor smugglers are flourishing under the police patronage.

Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar said that no one would be allowed to take law into his hand and the police would take action against the bootleggers and liquor smugglers whoever they might be. The SP said that the RJD MLA was free to launch an agitation but police would perform their duty.
