Patna : World Number 1 in ATP rankings Roger Federer, 36, Switzerland, moved into 4th round of Indian Wells ATP Masters tournament at California, USA, on March 12, 2018. Federer, the top seed, crushed World Number 28 and 25th seed Filip Krajinovic, 26, Serbia, in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 in 58 minutes. Federer has won the Indian Wells ATP Masters title five times. Federer will now lay Jeremy Chardy of France, ranked 100th in the world, in the 4th round.
But, World Number 49 Borna Coric, 21, Croatia, upset World Number 16 and 13th seed Roberto Bautista Agut, 29, Spian, 6-1, 6-3 to enter the fourth round. World Number 26 Hyeon Chung, 21, South Korea, the 23rd seed, stunned World Number 15 and 12th seed Tomas Berdych 6-4, 6-4 to enter the round of 16. World Number 9 Kevin Anderson, 31, South Africa, the 7th seed, entered the round of 16 defeating World Number 94 Nicolas Kicker, 25, Argentina, 7-6, 7-6.
World Number 14 and 11th seed Pablo Carreno Busta, 26, Spain, entered the round of 16 defeating World Number 57 Daniil Medvedev, 22, Russia, 6-1, 7-5. World Number 74 Taylor Fritz, 20, USA, upset World Number 39 Fernando Verdasco, 34, Spain, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6, to enter the fourth round. World Number 34 Pablo Cuevas, 32, Uruguay, also entered the fourth round after World Number 6 DominicThiem, 24, Austria, the 5th seed, retired in the third set of their round match with the score reading 3-6, 6-4, 4-2.
