Federer, Djokovic, Zverev enter 2nd round of US Open 2018

Patna : World No 2 in ATP rankings and winner of 20 Grand Slam titles Roger Federer, 37, Switzerland, World No 6  and winner of 13 Grand Slam titles Novak Djokovic, 31, Serbia, World No 4 Alexander Zverev, 21, Germany, World No 7 Marin Cilic, 29, Croatia, and World No 12 Pablo Carreno Busta, 27, Spain, entered the second round of US Open 2018 on August 28, 2018, late night. But, World No 96 Yuki Bhambri, 26, India, lost in the first round to World No 75 P H Herbert, France, 3-6, 6-7, 5-7.

Federer beat Y Nishioka, Japan, in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, 6-4 in the first round while reigning Wimbledon champion and 6th seed Djokovic beat F Fucsovic in four-sets 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-0. Zverev beat P Polansky 6-2, 6-1, 6-2 to enter the second round. Cilic entered the second round after his opponent World No 82 Marius Copil, 27, retired in the third round. Cilic had won the first two sets. Busta beat World No 59 Malek Jaziri, 34, Tunisia, 7-5, 6-2, 6-2 in the first round.
