Federer has won the AO Championship five times and is winner of 19 Grand Slams.
But, 2014 AO Champion and number 9 seed Stan Wawrinka, 32, Switzerland, was stunned by World Number 97 Tennys Sandgren, 26, USA, in the second round in straight sets 2-6, 1-6, 4-6 in a massive upset .
Six time AO Champion Nokak Djokovic, 30, Serbia, who is making a comeback after six months’ injury lay off, also entered the third round defeating World Number 39 Gael Monfils, 31, France, in four sets 4-6, 6-3, 6-1, 6-3 in extremely hot condition on January 18 morning.

In the Women Section, top seed SimonaHaleo, Romania, defeated Eugenie Bouchard, Canada, 6-2, 6-2, to move into the third round. Number 17 seed Madison Keys, USA, a US Open finalist in 2017, dfeated Ekaterina Alexandrova, Russia, 6-1, 6-1.
