Patna : World No 2 in ATP rankings Roger Federer, 37, Switzerland, World No 6 Novak Djokovic, 31, Serbia, World No 10 David Goffin, 27, Belgium, and World No 55 John Millman, 29, Australia, entered the fourth round of US Open championship 2018 on September 1, 2018, late night. But, World No 4 Alexander Zverev, 21, Germany, suffered a shock defeat in the third round.

Federer beat World No 30 Nick Kyrgios, 23, Australian, in straight sets 6-4, 6-1, 7-5 to enter the fourth round. Federer fired 16 Aces in the match to 13 by Kyrgios. Federer also won 4 break points besides winning 7 games in a row during the match.

Djokovic beat World No 25 Richard Gasquet, 32, France, 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 in the third round. Gasquet though fired 10 Aces in the match to 3 by Djokovic. But, he also committed 4 double faults to 2 by Djokovic, who won 5 break points. Djokovic also won 5 games in a row.

Goffin beat World No 58 Jan-Lennard Struff, 28, Germany, 6-4, 6-1, 7-6 to enter the 4th round of US Open. Struff committed 9 double in the match to 6 by Goffin. Goffin fired 8 Aces to 2 by Struff. Goffin won 7 break points while his rival won 3.

World No 19 Kei Nishikori, 28, Japan, beat World No 13 Diego Schwartzman, 26, Argentina, 6-4, 6-4, 5-7, 6-1 to enter the 4th round. Schwartzman committed 9 double faults to 5 by Nishikori in the match. Nishikori won 8 break points to 4 by Schwartzman. Nishikori also fired 5 Aces.

But, World No 34 Philipp Kohlschreiber, 34, Germany, stunned World No 4 Alexander Zverev, 21, Germany, in the third round. Kohlschreiber beat Zverev 6-7, 6-4, 6-1, 6-3 to enter the fourth round. Kohlschreiber won 8 break points to 3 by Zverev. Zverev fired 9 Aces to 5 by his rival. But, Zverev also committed 7 double faults to 3 by Kohlschreiber.

World No 68 Joao Sousa, Portugal, upset World No 17 Lucas Pouille, 24, France, 7-6, 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 to enter the fourth round. Pouille fired 17 Aces in the match to 12 by Sousa. Pouille committed 8 double faults to 3 by Sousa. Pouille though won 5 break points to 4 by his rival.
