Federer, Djokovic, Cilic enter 3rd round of US Open

Patna : World No 2 in ATP rankings and 5 time champion Roger Federer, 37, Switzerland, World No 6 and two time champion Novak Djokovic, 31, Serbia, and 2014 champion and World No 7 Marin Cilic, 29, Croatia, entered the third round of US Open Championship 2018 on August 30, 2018, late night.

Federer beat World No 56 Benoit Paire, 29, France, in straight sets 7-5, 6-4, 6-4 in the second round. Paire committed 11 double faults in the match to 5 by Federer. Paire fired 6 Aces to 5 by Federer in the match. But, Federer won 5 break points while Paire won 2.

Djokovic beat World No 61 Tennys Sandgren, 27, USA, in four-sets 6-1, 6-3, 6-7, 6-2 in second round. Sandgren fired 11 Aces in the match to 6 by Djokovic. Sandgren committed 4 double faults while Djokovic committed 3 in the match. But, Djokovic won 7 break points to just 1 by Sandgren in the match.

Cilic crushed World no 109 Hubert Hurkacz, 21, Poland, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0 in the second round. Cilic fired 13 Aces to just 3 by Hurkacz in the match. Cilic also won 8 break points to none by Hurkacz. Hurkacz committed 6 double faults to just 1 by Cilic.

World No 25 Richard Gasquet, 32, France, beat World No 89 Laslo Djere, Serbia,  6-3, 7-6, 6-3 to enter the third round of US Open. Gasquet served 7 Aces in the match to 4 by Dere. Gasquet, however, also committed 7 double faults to just 1 by Dere.
