Federer beats Goffin to win Halle Open title for record 10th time

Gurugram ( Haryana) : Top seed Roger Federer, 37, Switzerland, defeated World No 33 David Goffin, 28, Belgium, in straight sets 7-6, 6-1 in 83 minutes in the final at Gerry Weber Stadion, Halle, Germany, to win the Halle Open, an ATP World Tour 500 points grass courts tournament, singles title for the record 10th time. The tournament has now been renamed Noventi Open.

Federer was playing his 13th final at the event, held before the Wimbledon. Both Federer and Goffin fired 6 Aces each in the match. Goffin committed 5 double faults to just 1 by the Swis star. Federer also won 3 break points in the match besides winning 4 games in a row. He also won 44 service points to 41 by Goffin. Federer’s winning percentage both on his first and second serve (83 % & 68%) was much higher than that of Goffin (66% & 59%). Federer had lost to Borna Coric, Croatia, the World No 14, in the Halle Open final in 2018.
