Buxar : Family members and acquaintances staged demonstration and went on rampage at a private clinic located on Brahmpur-Raghunathpur main road in Buxar District in South Bihar after the death of a woman and her child during delivery on February 19, 2021. Police rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters.

Later, police recovered the bodies and brought them over to Buxar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. SHO, Brahmpur police station (PS), Kamlesh Kumar, said Dr Munna Ansari runs a private clinic ‘Sai Hospital’ on Raghunathpur-Brahmpur road even as he has no medical degree from any recognized medical college.

The SHO further said that Bikrama Yadav, son of Gorakh Yadav of Nimez village under Brahmpur police station, admitted his wife to Sai Hospital for delivery. During delivery, the woman and her child died. After their death, the doctor and all the staff of the hospital escaped from the spot. As the news of their death spread, family members and acquaintances went on rampage and staged demonstration at the gate of the hospital.

Villagers said that quacks ruled the roost in Buxar right under the nose of the district administration. They alleged that Dr Munna Ansari had been jailed in the past for irregularities in medical profession.
