Ara : Additional District and Sessions Judge, VI, Ara, sentenced to 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment (RI) an elderly person Heeraman Yadav alias Rangbaaz for outraging of modesty of a seven year old girl of his village. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 on the convict.
SPP Sanroj Kumari said that a seven year old girl was all alone at her house at a village under Sandesh police station as her mother had gone to her relative at the village on July 6, 2019. A youth of the village, taking advantage of the situation, lured the girl and took her to a secluded place where an elderly man outraged her modesty. The youth videographed the whole incident. They threatened the girl with dire consequences and also made the video viral in the social media. The mother of the girl came to know about the incident when she returned home. Later, an FIR was lodged with Women’s police station in this regard.
The court hearing both the parties found the elderly person guilty on February 11, 2021, and announced quantum of punishment on February 18, 2021.
The SPP said that the court directed the government to give compensation of Rs. 3 lakh to family of the survivor and added that a case against the youth is pending in the Juvenile Justice Court as he is minor.
