Buxar : Prohibition & Excise Department sleuths arrested an auto rickshaw driver and seized 532 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) packed in 11 cartons near Dewal Bridge under Rajpur police station in Buxar District in South Bihar on January 4, 2021, evening.

The arrested autorickshaw driver was identified as Santosh Kumar of Dewal village in Gajipur, Uttar Pradesh. A named FIR was lodged with tRajpur police station under Prohibition & Excise Act against Santosh Kumar. Later, police sent him to jail after interrogation.

Excise Superintendent, Buxar, Devendra Prasad said that the Excise Department sleuths were on routine checking at Dewal Bridge under Rajpur police station in Buxar district on January 4, 2021 evening, when an atuorickshaw from Uttar Pradesh came without passenger. The Excise Department sleuths intercepted and checked the autorickshaw and seized 532 bottles of IMFL packed in 11 cartons kept under the rear seat. They arrested driver Santosh Kumar of Dewal village.

Excise Superintendent Prasad said that Santosh Kumar used two registration numbers. He used registration number of Uttar Pradesh whenever he ran his auto -rickshaw there and when in Bihar, he used registration number of Bihar. He stated that Dewal Bridge is located near Bihar – Uttar Pradesh border and so smuggling is easy.
