Muzaffarpur: Excise departments sleuths, on a tip off, conducted raid at the house of a trader Manish under Turki police oupost (OP) in Muzaffarpur district on Saturday and seized five cartons containing foreign liquor. Although Manish managed to escape, Turki police arrested his mother Sumita Devi. Manish was jailed in the past for selling liquor illegally.
Excise department sources said that so far liquor worth Rs 60 lakh had been seized in Muzaffarpur district. Excise Superintendent, Muzaffarpur, Amit Kumar said that over 300 persons had been arrested in the district for selling or consuming liquor. The district administration has initiated process to attach property of several liquor dealers and hotel owners for defying complete prohibition enforced in the state from April 5, 2016.
