Ranchi : Vice President (VP) of India M Venkaiah Naidu on September 9, 2017, said that every city in the country should become Smart City and we must put efforts in that direction. He was addressing a gathering after performing Bhoomi Poojan for the Ranchi Smart City in Jharkhand. He also laid foundation stone for Urban Civic Tower, Convention Centre and Jharkhand Urban Planning and Management Institute on the Campus of Ranchi Smart City Area.

Jharkhand Governor Droupadi Murmu, CM Raghubar Das, Minister for Urban Development and Housing Department, Jharkhand, C P Singh and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

The Vice President said that forty percent of India’s mineral wealth is in Jharkhand state. He said that mineral resources of Jharkhand should be used for public welfare especially for the person standing last in the line. For the success of the Smart City, transparency and order in the system is also required, he added, according to a PIB release.

The Vice President said that the Smart City means beautiful, where all types of facilities are available to the citizens. He said that electricity, drinking water, better education, medical and transportation facilities are available. For the smart city, the role of public representatives and general public apart from the government is crucial, according to the PIB release.

The Vice President said that there is no place for violence in democracy and those who commit violence should never be encouraged. The security of each person is very important and peace needed for the development, he added.
