Ara : Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on January 30 warned the bootleggers using innocent children and women as carriers of liquor from neighbouring states and said that they were committing double crime and would have to pay a heavy price for their misdeeds. The CM came to Ara from Buxar after addressing a public meeting there.

The CM visited village Sakhua in Kusumha panchayat under Udwantnagar block in Bhojpur district as part of his ongoing ‘Seven Nishchay Yatra’. He reviewed the ongoing development works with the officials at Ara and inaugurated a ‘Herbal Park’ at the village and declared Sakhua an ideal village. He also visited a piggery at the Mahadalit Tola of  the village.

Addressing a public meeting at Sakhua, the CM said that enforcing prohibition was not the end of his campaign as  his government was trying to make Bihar intoxicant free. He said that he was aware of problems in implementation of prohibition but such operational problems only strengthen his resolve. He said even officials will not be spared if found violating liquor ban. He added that information were pouring in that some senior officials were behaving erratically in public leaving tongues wagging. The CM, buoyed by presence of women folk in the audience, exhorted them to work as watchdog to see that prohibition was effectively enforced in their areas.

The CM said that he had come there to see the implementation part of his seven resolves that include providing tap water, electricity and toilet facilities to every house. He said the district administration had done satisfactorily in implementing four of seven points of his government’s resolve. He personally turned on one tap to see water supply through it. The four points on which Sakhua village passed the CM’s test were electricity, tap water, concrete roads and lavatories. He ordered the officials to make Bhojpur district ODF at the earliest and ensure construction of drainage in villages. He said that Bihar will launch a green revolution and emerge as green zone by the end of 2019.
