England beat Pakistan by innings and 55 runs in 2nd test

Patna : England beat Pakistan by an innings and 55 runs in the second test at Headingley, Leeds, on the third day of the match. Pakistan, who had scored 174 runs in their first innings, collapsed in the second innings to be all out for 134 in 46 overs with opener Imam-ul-Haq scoring 34 and Usman Salauddin making 33. Pakistan had won the first test at Lord’s. The two-match test series thus ended 1-1. England and Pakistan will share the trophy. It was England’s first win in a test match in 9 months.

Earlier, resuming at their overnight score of 312/7, England were all out for 363 in their first innings taking a 189 run lead. England batsman Jos Buttler remained not out on 80 in 111 ball with 11 fours and 2 sixes. England fast bowler Stuart Broad took 6 wickets in the match while James Anderson took 5 wickets.

Buttler was declared Man of Match while Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Abbas was declared Man of the series for taking 10 wickets in the two-test series.

For Pakistan, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Abbas, and Hasan Ali took two wickets each while allrounder Faheem Ashraf took three wickets. Spinner Shadab Khan also took one wicket.

Pakistan made a disastrous start in their second innings and lost their fisrt wicket when the score was 20, second wicket when the score was 30, and the third wicket on 43. They lost their 4th wicket on 84 and after that it was a procession of batsmen to the pavilion.

For Enland, fast bowlers James Anderson took 2/35, Stuard Broad 3/28, Chris Woakes 1/18 and Sam Curran, 19, younger brother England fast bowler Tom Curran, 23, took 1/10. Off Spinner Dominic Bess, 20, who had scored 49 in England’s first innings, took 3/33 in 11 overs.
