Patna : England were 86/6 in their second innings at lunch on day three of first cricket test against India at Edgbaston, Birmingham, UK, on August 3, 2018, losing 5 wickets in the first session of the day. With fast bowler Ishant Sharma and spinner Ravichandra Ashwin wreaking havoc, England are staring at defeat with a lead of just 99 runs and only 4 wickets in hand.

Ashwin has already taken 7 wickets in the match while Ishant Sharma has taken 4 wickets. India’s catching was very good on day 3 with Lokesh Rahul taking two catch and captain Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, and Ajinkya Rahane one each.

Resuming at their overnight score of 9/1, England lost their second wicket that of Keaton Jennnigs at 18. Captain Joe Root was out when the score was 39. Both the wickets were taken by Ashwin. Thereafter, Ishant Sharma was all over the England batsmen taking the wickets of Dawid Malan, wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow, and allrounder Ben Stokes.

Malan was out when the score was 70 while Bairstow fell after scoring 28 when the score was 85. Two balls later, Ishant took the wicket of Stokes. Bairstow and Stokes got out just before lunch. Root made 14 while Jennings made 8. Malan made 20 and Stokes 6.

Ishant took 3/21 in 6.4 overs while Ashwin took 3/34 in 15 overs. England had scored 287 in their first innings while India made 274 in their first innings.
