Patna : England were 267/4 after 90 overs in their first innings at stumps on Day 2 of the first Ashes Test against Australia at Edgbaston, Birmingham, UK, on August 2, 2019, night, with opener Rory Joseph Burns unbeaten on 125 in 282 balls hitting 16 fours, his first test century,  and all-rounder Ben Stokes batting on 38 in 71 balls with 6 fours. Burns and Stokes have so far added 73 runs for the 5th wicket.

Burns added 132 runs for the 2nd wicket with Captain Joe Root, who fell to fast bowler Peter Siddle for 57. Joe Denly fell to fast bowler James Pattinson for 18 while Jos Buttler fell to fast bowler Pat Cummins for 5. Open Jason Roy also fell to Pattinson for 10. England trails by 17 runs. Australia had scored 284 in their first innings on Day 1.
