Patna : England were 120/0 in 42 overs in their first innings in 3rd test against against India at Headingley, Leeds, UK, on Day 1 on August 25, 2021, with openers Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed unbeaten on 52 runs (5 fours and 1 six) and 60 runs ( 11 fours) respectively. The Indian bowlers bowled well but failed to make a breakthrough. England lead by 42 runs.
Earlier, opting to bat after winning the toss, India were all out for just 78 runs in 40.4 overs with opener Rohit Sharma scoring 19 runs and Ajinkya Rahane scoring 18 runs. James Anderson and Craig Overton took three wickets each. Captain Virat Kohli ( 7), Cheteshwar Pujara (1), and Rahane failed again. Anderson has dismissed Virat 7 times in his test career.
