Eng 202/3 in 2nd innings against NZ in Christchurch Test

Patna : England were 202/3 in 66 overs at stumps in their second innings in the second test against New Zealand at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, on day three on April 1, 2018, with Captain Joe Root batting on 30 in 66 balls and Dawid Malan batting on 19 in 38 balls. The third England wicket fell at 165 when James Vince fell to Trent Boult.

James Vince made 76 in 128 balls with 10 fours while opener Mark Stoneman made 60 in 139 balls with 6 fours. Former Captain and opener Alastair Cook again failed to score big getting out for only 14. England, who had scored 307 in their first innings, now lead by 231 runs. Stoneman and Vince were involved in a 123 run partnership for the second wicket. For New Zealand, Trent Boult took 2/38 and Tim Southee 1/42.

Earlier resuming at their overnight score of 192/6, New Zealand were all out for 278 in their first innings with wicketkeeper W J Watling scoring 85 in 220 balls hitting 11 fours and a six. Watling was unbeaten on 77 at stumps on day two on March 31, 2018. Fast bowler Tim Southee, who had taken 6/62 in England’s first innings, made a blistering 50 in 48 balls hitting 8 fours and a six. Trent Boult, who had taken 4/87 in England’s first innings,  made 16 while Neil Wagner remained unbeaten on 24 in 27 balls with 2 fours and a six. For England, fast bowler Stuard Broad took 6/54 in 22.3 overs while James Anderson took 4/76 in 24 overs.
