Elderly woman thrashed to death by grandson in Bhojpur

Ara : A youth Rahul Kumar thrashed his grandmother Sarojini Devi alias Sirajo Kuer, 102, to death at village Lohai under Agiaw Bazaar police station in Bhojpur district on May 18,2018, night, and escaped. A named FIR was lodged with Agiaw Bazaar police station against Rahul Kumar on the statement of Sushila Devi alias Dharmshila Devi, daughter of the deceased, but no arrest has so far been made in this connection. Property dispute is said to be reason behind the incident.

SHO, Agiaw Bazaar police station, said that Sarojani Devi alias Sirajo Kuer, wife of late Motilal Singh of village Lohai, had four sons and two daughters. She wished to distribute properties among her sons and daughters equally but her grandson Rahul used to oppose it. On May 18 night, she was going to her second son when Rahul, son of Khadera Singh, thrashed her with traditional weapons seriously injuring her and escaped. Later, she succumbed to her injuries during treatment at the hospital on May 19, 2018, morning.
