Patna : Unidentified criminals killed a retired chief engineer of irrigation Department, Bihar, Harendra Prasad Singh, 86, and his second wife Swapna das Gupta, 70, on the first floor of their sprawling house in Poultry Farm lane, Buddha Colony, Dujra, under Buddha Colony police station, Patna, on September 6, 2018, night. The twin murder was noticed by their female cook at 9 pm on September 7. The volume of the TV was also high in the room. Harendra Prasad Singh was injured in the same afternoon but was alright after treatment.

The elderly couple was strangulated to death. Prima facie, the assailants used a pillow to kill the couple, according to police, who suspect the role of some insiders in the twin murder. Harendra Prasad Singh’s first wife lives in Kankarbagh and two sons and two daughters. Harendra had a son, a doctor in Delhi, and a Australia based daughter, from Swapna.

Police have detained 7 persons including the driver and domestic help of the slain couple into custody for quizzing. Fingerprints and forensic experts have collected evidence from the spot. Chasing the smell, the sniffer dogs led police up to Mainpura – Boring Canal Road and stopped thereafter. Police are also looking into the footage of CCTV installed on the road.
