Motihari : Police, on a tip off, intercepted an SUV near  toll plaza on NH 28  near Chakiya in East Champaran district In North Bihar on September 20, 2020, and seized 20 kg  Charas worth Rs  5 crore kept in the vehicle. Two persons  including a drug peddler
were arrested by police and are being interrogated by senior police officers.

SDPO, Chakiya, Sanjay Kumar, said that the driver of the SUV and a drug peddler were coming from Muzaffarpur en route Mumbai. It is said  they had got the consignment at Muzaffarpur and the same was to be delivered to a person in Mumbai. Charas was handed over to a person at Muzaffarpur by a drug peddler from Nepal. The racket was busted on the direction of  East Champaran SP Navin Chandra Jha.

Sources said Muzaffarpur has emerged as a nerve centre of Narcotics smuggling for the last five years  and Mumbai narcotics dealer are also involved in this racket. Police arrested Usman Safi Shekh  and Vijay Bansi Prasad of Maharashtra in this connection and seized the SUV.
