Motihari : East Champaran police on September 9, 2019, arrested five persons in connection with mob lynching two persons at Phulwariya and Chaknahiya-Musahartoli villages under Fenahara and Pipra police stations respectively in the district. Police teams are conducting raids to arrest the other accused too but they have fled away from their villages.

SDPO, Pakaridayal, Dinesh Kumar Pandey,  told this scribe that Surendra Singh, brother- in -law of  Shatrughna  Singh,
who was thrashed to death by an unruly mob on September 7, 2019, near village Fulwariya under Fenhara  police station on the suspicion of his being a child lifter, has lodged an FIR case against 6 named persons and 8 unknown persons. Mohammad Taz  has been arrested  by police while the remaining accused are evading arrest.

SDPO, Chakiya, Shailendra Kumar, said that 4 persons have been arrested from  Chaknahiya-musahartoli village under Pipra
police station in  connection with lynching of a 22 year old man by an unruly mob on September 6, 2019. It may be recalled on here an unidentified young man was beaten to death by an unruly mob on the suspicion of his being a child lifter. According to police, the deceased was a mentally  challenged person and was yet to be identified. Police had lodged a case  against unknown persons  in this case.

Meanwhile, the  SHO of  all the 44  police stations in the district  are holding peace committee meetings  under their respective jurisdiction  urging social workers , panchayat functionaries,  and  political party leaders, to  launch an awareness drive  in villages to prevent such incident by asking the people no to take law into their hand.
