Raxaul : The East Champaran police on Thursday arrested 12 outlaws including a sharp shooter, allegedly members of land mafia, after an encounter. The police team headed by DSP, Raxaul, Rakesh Kumar, also recovered huge cache of firearms including four rifles,two pistols, a revolver and more than 100 live cartridges from their
possession.
Of the 12 outlaws rested by police, nine are natives of Patna, Aurangabad, Muzaffarpur and West champaran districts and are security guards of a private security company of Patna. All these arrested persons were produced before Raxaul court on Friday and sent to Motihari jail in judicial custody.Pradeep Singh, one of those arrested, is said to be the relation of a controversial MLA lodged in Beur jail.
According to reports, about 20 persons carrying firearms invaded a four kattha plot in Pareuwa locality of Raxaul town located on Indo-Nepal border on which a film producer Jaipal Sah has constructed house after purchasing the land from its owner. They fired more than 50 rounds to scare the house owner and grab the plot.They tried to forcibly capture the house and misbehaved with the women inmates.Some persons informed the DSP of Raxaul about the incident after which DSP Rakesh Kumar reached at the spot with force and he himself opened three rounds of fire and caught hold all the goons.
DSP Kumar said that one Sonelal Yadav had allegedly sent these goons to capture the plot. Interestingly, the SHO, Raxaul, reached the spot after the arrest of the criminals. He was beaten up by an angry mob but was rescued by the DSP.Sri Prakash SDM, DSP Kumar Raxaul Block Development officer Amit Kumar brought the situation under control.
Later, hundreds of people reached Raxaul police station and sat on dharna demanding removal of the SHO Rajeshwar
Prasad from the police station. They were demanding action against him alleging he was helping the land grabbers hence did not reach the spot at the time of attack. The wife of Jaipal Sah lodged a case in this regard alleging she had informed the SHO on Wednesday that criminals are moving around her house to grab it but he did not respond.The DSP has sent a report to East Champaran SP Jitendra Rana in this regard.
