Chas ( Jharkhand) : DPS Chas, Jharkhand, students recently elected student council office bearers for the Session 2021-22 and they were conferred on badges to the newly elected students in an investiture ceremony held at school campus today. The chief guest of the ceremony was Father Reji C Varghese, Principal, M.G.M Higher Secondary School, Bokaro.
In an election held on October 28, 2021, Hemant Kumar of Class XI and Khushi Kumari of Class XI emerged victorious as Head Boy and Head Girl respectively. The other student council office bearers elected are Yuvraj Kumar (Vice Head Boy), Aditi Shubham (Vice Head Girl), Bavleen Kaur Bhandari (Literary Secretary), Vivek Kumar (Sports Secretary) and Anurag Gupta (Cultural Secretary). The Head Boy and the Head Girl along with the other secretaries and post holders took the oath to abide by the school rules, follow its decorum, maintain coordination and cooperation amongst all their peers, raising the high ideals of the school.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Father Reji C Varghese congratulated the newly elected members for their new roles and responsibilities ahead. He said, “Leaders are the ones who helps the community to lead. The new appointees should think differently and be path setters.”
Highlighting the importance of the Student Council, Dr. Hemlata S. Mohan, Chief Mentor, DPS Chas, said, “This initiative of the school will develop stronger sense of responsibility in the students. Accountability builds a sense of respect and self-worth. DPS Chas believes that there’s a leadership quality in every student that needs an opportunity to come to the limelight. A student council empowers the students with the responsibility to maintain the decorum and uphold the school’s dignity. Today, as the Ex-Council members bestow the responsibilities on the shoulders of the newly elected, the Ex-Council should consider the fact that there are larger roles to play ahead. They should propagate their experiences and the youngsters who now take the role should learn from their experiences. The entire world always craves for a good leader, who we believe, can play a pivotal role in metamorphosing the world into a universally acceptable one. The school aims to prepare future leader with good morality and varied venerable traits, which an effective leader must possess.” She congratulated all the students.
Officiating Principal, DPS Chas, Deepali Bhuskute, congratulated the newly elected members for their new roles and bigger responsibilities ahead. She said, “The students of today are going to become the citizens of tomorrow and we believe that every student has the potential to emerge as a leader. The student council will uplift the spirit of leadership empowering them to scale greater heights of excellence and be winners holistically..
The programme was anchored by Harsh Kumar of Class IX and Astha Pathak of Class XI and the vote of thanks was given by Pragya Pushkar of Class XII.
