Chas ( Jharkhand) : A String of mesmerising cultural  performances  including different types  of dances and songs  depicting country life, festivals,  and rural culture  marked the Annual day Function of DPS Chas, ‘Swacchhagrah’,  on April 18, 2019,  evening. It presented a cultural cum musical package enthralling hundreds  of students, parents and visiting dignitaries.  The day not only reflected how far the school has reached since its inception in very short span but also honed its custom and values  showcased by the students in the musical cum cultural soiree.

The inaugural ceremony was formalised by the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest Anil Kumar Upadhyay (Former IAS officer) along with Dr  Hemlata S. Mohan (Chairman CCRT), N Muralidharan (PVC DPS Chas), Suresh Kumar Agarwal (Secretary D S Memorial Society), Principal of DPS Bokaro A S Gangwar and Shyam Mohan (Former GM BSL).

The melodious Titli song by tiny-tots of Primary Wing followed by the patriotic song (Sare Jahan se Accha) and the favourite bhajan of Bapu (Raghupati raghav Raja Ram) enthralled the audience

The most riveting performance which drew an unceasing applause was the folk song Kajri and the Holi song. The most awaited moment came when 150 students performed on stage the dance programme Swacchhagrah. The props and costumes added colour to the festive occasion with the synchronised dance movement to the foot tapping music.

The welcome address and annual report was read by the Principal Neelkamal Sinha who besides giving details of the achievements of the school in last two years informed what this institute is planning for its betterment in near future.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest A K Upadhyay stated the he was happy to see as how the students of this school were being groomed for their total personality development. He asked the students to take lessons from Mahatama Gandhi, who stressed on self discipline and cleanliness which is very important in day to day life.

Speaking on the occasion, DPS Chas Chief Mentor Dr Hemlata S Mohan  stated that though the school was  in its nascent stage  but the way it is progressing  with a clear cut vision the day is not far off when its students shall be not only shine at coalbelt,  state, national but also on global level not only in field of academy but in field of extra-curricular activities.

“We are committed to groom the students for their holistic development and teach them to face the upcoming challenges, which every human being faces in every stage of his/ her life, with dexterity. Our aim shall be to see to it that the students of this school not only crack IIT and Medical entrance tests but also compete in UPSC and excel in whatever field they choose which can be field of music, sports or art and culture,” Dr Mohan said.

“The programme and the cultural extravaganza  presented today by the students shows their awareness of  the Indian values and culture along with sense of  responsibility and sign of patriotism  which is definitely praiseworthy. I am very hopeful that such events shall open young minds,” Dr Mohan said.

On this occasion Sutlej House got the best house award thereby receiving chairman’s Trophy while in the junior section Vashnavi Ranjan (VB) got the best student award receiving Mahatama Gandhi Trophy and in the senior section Sifa Parvin (8A) got the best student award receiving B R Ambedkar Trophy. Mrs Reshmi Sinha, Headmistress of the school, gave  the vote of thanks.
