Bokaro (Jharkhand) : Swimmers of DPS Bokaro helped Bokaro District Swimming Team win first runners-up Trophy in Under 17 Boys and Girls categories and maximum medals (29) at the 11th Junior State Swimming Inter-District Championships organised by Jharkhand Swimming Association (JSA) at Khelgaon, Aquatic Stadium, Ranchi. Of the 27 members of Bokaro District Team, 24 are from DPS Bokaro.

Altogether 205 participants from 23 districts of the State participated at the mega event where the swimmers of Bokaro district won 29 medals including 4 Silver and 25 Bronze in different categories . DPS Bokaro was declared the first runners-up in Under 17 Boys and Girls categories.

In the individual boys event (under 17), Pratik Kumar of DPS Bokaro gave the best performance and bagged five medals (two silver in 400 mts Free Style and 100 mts Butterfly along with three Bronze in others). In the individual girl’s event, Anubhuti Jha secured four medals – One Silver in 100 mt Breast Stroke categories and Three Bronze in other categories.

In the individual boys event (under 11), Aranya Rohan won 2 medals – One silver in the 200 mts Freestyle and  One bronze in 100 mts Freestyle

The students of DPS Bokaro who won Bronze medals (including U-14 & U-17 categories) are: Sahil Shekhar (2), Travis Liu(1), Tanya Bhardwaj (3), Khushi Nandan (3), Priyashree Dubey (2), Shaili Priya (5), Archisman Choudhary(1), and Ishan Alok (1).

Principal, DPS Bokaro, A S Gangwar expressed his happiness over the outstanding performance of the students and wished them to the best for the upcoming swimming competitions.
