DPS Bokaro celebrates Foundation Day

Bokaro (Jharkhand) :  Delhi Public School ( DPS) Bokaro on July 4, 2017, celebrated its 31^st Foundation Day in the form of a cultural fiesta and a felicitation of the outstanding performers at AISSE 2017, Aryabhatta Mathematics Competition (AMC) and the Regularity Award recipients. The day was marked by the presence of Padma Shree Vijay Prasad Dimri,  an eminent Geophysical Scientist, as the Chief Guest, along with eminent Hindustani Classical Music Maestro (Santoor) Pt. Tarun Bhattacharya as the Guest of Honour.

The dignitaries present on the occasion included Pro-Vice Chairman of the school Sudhir Kumar Agarwal,  General manager Bokaro steel, Pro-Vice Chairman N Muralidharan- DPS, Chas, nationally acclaimed quiz master Parnab Mukherjee along with the Principals of Sahodaya Schools and teachers from  various schools of  Ranchi and Dhanbad.

Around 600 students were felicitated with Regularity Award by the dignitaries. The Chief Guest felicitated 137 students for achieving 10 CGPA at AISSE 2017 and then distributed the prizes for AMC.  Books and Uniforms were also distributed to the students of Deepansh Shiksha Kendra  (school for poor run by DPS school).

The School’s Newsletter- DPS Bokaro Chronicle and the Creative Writing Book ‘SHABD-  The Word Voyage’ were released by Vijay Prasad Dimri, Sudhir Kumar Aggarwal,  Hemlata S Mohan, Ujjawal Kumar Sinha (Alumnus), Senior Vice President, Honeywell, along with Parnab Mukherjee.

Addressing the gathering, Dimri  expressed his pleasure to be a part of the foundation day celebration of the school and took pride in sharing the contribution of ISM, Dhanbad, in making him what he is today. He emphasized on the significance of data collection and studies based on the observation of the natural phenomenon. He concluded by saying that one needs to be curious and inquisitive to understand nature in the present scenario of global warming and natural hazards.

Director and Principal, DPS Bokaro, Hemlata S. Mohan,  said, “It has been thirty years of glorious educational excellence but it all seems yesterday when we started off, exploring the world of education to provide the best to students. There have been innumerable contributions and selfless service from noble hearts as we took giant steps scaling gradients to reach the ‘zenith’ where we stand today- humbled by the brilliant academic performances of our students-be it the Class X, XII, JEE (Mains & Adv), NEET, CLAT and the most prestigious and challenging UPSC examinations.”

She said, “We strive to empower life through education in our community service engagements like the `Deepansh Shiksha Kendra’ to cater to the educational needs of the children of the marginalized sections of society and `Koshish’, a vocational training centre for women to acquire financial self-sustainability. Deepansh Shiksha Kendra has completed 17 years and has around 300+ students in the current session while the 18th batch of Koshish is on the verge of completion.”

The day not only reflected how far the school has reached since its inception but also honed its customs and values which were showcased by the students in the form of a beautifully choreographed dance on the theme ‘Tamaso Ma Jyotir Gamaya’… let there be light.
