Ara : Newborns are left to the mercy of god at Special Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit (SNICU) at Ara Sadar Hospital as the doctors on duty are hardly visible. A nurse takes care of newborns at SNICU in the absence of the doctors.

At least 12 newly born children are admitted to the SNICU of Ara Sadar Hospital for their treatment and five doctors are deputed there to discharge their duty in shift. But the doctors seldom bother to visit SNICU. When this correspondent visited Ara Sadar Hospital around midnight on December 30, 2016, not a single doctor was found on duty. When asked about the doctor, the nurse was not aware of their whereabouts. She only said that she and a  ward boy look after the SNICU most of the time. The nurse said that doctors are called when an emergency patient is  admitted.

The SNICU on the campus of Ara Sadar Hospital was inaugurated on October 2, 2016, is equipped with latest equipment and all facilities for the doctors and nurses have been also provided.
