Muzaffarpur : Muzaffarpur DM Dharmendra Singh has ordered a probe into alleged irregularities in the allotment of fund for construction of toilets and housing units to the beneficiaries under Kanti Nagar Panchayat in Muzaffarpur district. The DM said that appropriate action would be taken against those committing irregularities. The benefit of the scheme would definitely reach the beneficiaries, the DM said.
The locals had staged gherao of Kanti Nagar Panchayat office several times in the past alleging irregularities in the allotment of funds for construction of housing units and toilets but to no avail so far. The middlemen pocket major share in the fund released in the name of beneficiaries, they alleged. The villagers had also complained to Executive Officer, Kanti Nagar Panchayat, Hira Kumari, in this connection. Yet, middlemen continue to have a major say in the release of fund to the beneficiaries allegedly taking over Rs 10,000 from each of them.
