Patna : World No 1 & top seed Novak Djokovic, 34, Serbia, and 6th seed Matteo Berrettini, 25, Italy, reached men’s singles quarter-finals at US Open at New York, USA, on September 7, 2021, morning.

Djokovic, the winner of record equalling 20 Grand Slam singles, beat World No 99 Jenson Brooksby, 20, USA, in a four-set contest 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 in Round of 16 rallying back from one set down. The World No 1 won 6 break points during the match to 3 by the American. Djokovic fired 9 Aces during the match to 4 by Brooksby. He also won 5 games in a row during the match to 3 by Brooksby. The Serbian, in all, won 116 points during the match to 95 by the American.

World No 8 Berrettini, the 2021 Wimbledon finalist and 2019 US Open semi-finalist, beat World No 144 Oscar Otte, 28, Germany, in four-sets 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 in Round of 16. The Italian hammered 11 Aces during the match to 6 by Otte. The German committed 4 double faults to 3 by Berrettini. The Italian won 4 break points in the match to 1 by Otte. Berrettini also won 5 games in a row during the match to 3 by the German. Berrettini, in all, won 110 points in the match to 91 points by Otte. Berrettini will face Djokovic in QF on September 8, 2021.

World No 8 Alexander Zverev, 24, Germany, defeated World No 16 & 13th seed Jannik Sinner, 20, Italy, in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, 7-6 in Round of 16 to reach QFs. Zverev fired 17 Aces during the match to 5 by Sinner. He also won 3 break points to 1 by the Italian. Zverev won 111 points during the match to 102 by Sinner. Both the the players won 3 games each in a row during the match.

Zverev will face World No 46 Lloyd Harris, 24, South Africa, in QFs on September 8. Harris beat 22nd seed Reilly Opelka, 24, USA,  6-7,  6-4, 6-1, 6-3 in Round of 16. Harris hammered 36 Aces during the match to 24 by World No 24 Opelka. Harris committed 4 double faults to 2 by Opelka.
