Patna : World No 1 Novak Djokovic, Serbia, 4th seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, Greece, Milos Raonic, Canada, Reilly Opelka, USA, and Filip Krajinovic, Serbia, entered the quarter-finals of 2020 Western & Southern Open tennis tournament at Linder FamilyTennis Center, Mason, Ohio, USA, on August 26, 2020.
Top seed Djokovic beat Tennys Sandgren, USA, in straight sets 6-26-4 in Round of 16. Sandgren though fired 7 Aces in the match to 2 by Djokovic. But, Djokovic won three break points to none by the American. The Serbian will face Jan-Lennard Struff, Germany, in the QFs. Fourth seed Tsistipas beat 16th seed John Isner, USA, in a tough contest 7-6, 7-6 in Round of 16. Both the payers fired 10 Aces each in the match. None of them could win a break point in the match. Isner, however, committed 4 double faults to 1 by Tsitsipas.
Raonic crushed three-time Grand Slam champion Andry Murray, UK, 6-2, 6-2 in Round of 16. Raonic fired 19 Aces in the match to 5 by Murray. The Canadian also won 4 break points. Opelka, 22, beat 6th seed Matteo Berrettini, Italy, 6-3, 7-6 in Round of 16. Opelka fired 19 Aces in the match to 7 by the Italian. Opelka also won a break point in the match. Opelka will face Tsitsipas in QFs
Krajinovic, 28, brushed aside Marton Fucsovics, 28, Hungary, 6-2, 6-1 to enter the QFs of the tournament. Krajinovic, who had upset 2nd seed Dominic Thiem, Austria, in 2nd round, will face Raonic in QFs.
