Patna : World No 1 and top seed Novak Djokovic, Serbia, and World No 4 Dominic Thiem, Austria, reached the semi-finals (SFs) of French Open on June 6, 2019.

Djokovic, winner of 15 Grand Slam titles, beat World No 5 Alexander Zverev, Germany, in straight sets 7-5, 6-2, 6-2 in the quarter-finals at Roland Garros, Paris, France. Zverev though hammered 10 Aces in the match to just 1 by Djokovic. The Serbian broke Zverev’s service 6 times in the match while the latter could break his service only once. Djokovic won 6 games in a row to 2 by Zverev. Djokovic committed 4 double faults in the match to 8 by the German. Djokovic’s winning percentage both on his first and second serve ( 80% & 59 %) was higher than that of Zverev (66% 7 50 %).

Thiem, the 2018 finalist, beat 10th seed Karen Khachanov, Russia, 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 in the quarter-finals. Thiem broke Khachanov’s service 5 times in the match besides winning 5 games in a row. Thiem won 57 service points to 47 by Khachanov. Khachanov fired 5 Aces in the match to 3 by Thiem. Thiem’s winning percentage both on his first and second serve ( 80 % & 71 %) was much higher than that of Khachanov ( 61 % 7 52%). Thiem will face Djokovic in the semi-finals.
