Djokovic, Opelka & Millman enter SFs of Rakuten Japan Open

Patna : Top seed and World No 1 Novak Djokovic, 32, Serbia, World No 53 Reilly Opelka, 22, USA, and World No 80 John Millman, 30, Australia, advanced to the semi-finals of Rakuten Japan Open, an ATP World Tour 500 points event, at Koto, Tokyo, Japan, on October 4, 2019.

Djokovic brushed aside 5th seed and World No 24 Lucas Pouille, 25, France, 6-1, 6-2 in just 50 minutes in quarter-finals at Ariake Colesium, Musashino Forest Sports Plaza, Koto, Tokyo, firing 8 Aces in the match. Djokovic won 5 break points in the match to 1 by Pouille. He also won 7 games in a row in the match to 2 by Pouille. The Serbian won 31 service points to 14 by the French. Djokovic’s winning percentage both on his first and second serve ( 82% & 72%) was much higher than that of Pouille (48% & 27 %).

Opelka beat World No 136 Yasutaka Uchiyama, 27, Japan, 6-3, 6-3 in 78 minutes in QFs winning 3 break points. Opelka fired 16 Aces in the match to 7 by Uchiyama besides winning 4 games in a row.

World No 80 Millman, Australia, swept past World No 127 Taro Daniel, 26, Japan, 6-4, 6-0 in 79 minutes in QFs. Millamn won 6 break points in the match to 2 by Daniel. The Australian also won 7 games in a row in the match to 2 by Daniel. Millman won 30 service points to 25 by the Japanese. Millman will face Opelka in SFs on October 5.
