Patna : World No 6 in ATP rankings Novak Djokovic, 31, Serbia, and World No 19 Kei Nishikori, 28, Japan, entered the quarterfinals of US Open championship on September 3, 2018, night.
Djokovic, who had won US Open singles title in 2011 and 2015, beat World No 68 Joao Sousa, 29, Portugal, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 in the fourth round. Djokovic fired 9 Aces in the match to 4 by Sousa. Sousa committed 5 double faults to just 1 by Djokocic, the winner of 13 Grand Slam titles including 6 Australian Open and 4 Wimbledon titles. Djokovic also won 5 break points while Sousa won just 1.
Nishikori beat World No 34 Philipp Kohlschreiber, 34, Germany, in straight sets 6-3, 6-2, 7-5 in the fourth round. Kohlschreiber fired 7 Aces in the match to 5 Nishikori. But, Nishikori won 6 break points to 2 by Kohlschreiber.
