Patna : Top seed and winner of 17 Grand Slam singles titles Novak Djokovic, 33, Serbia, edged past 5th seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, 22, Greece, in a five-set battle in the semi-finals on Philippe-Chatrier court, Roland Garros, Paris France, on October 9, 2020, late night, to reach final at French Open, a Grand Slam tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. Djokovic beat Tsitsipas 6-3, 6-2, 5-7, 4-6, 6-1 in semi-finals to set up a meeting with 2nd seed and twelve-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal, 34, Spain, in final on October 11, 2020.

Djokovic won 8 break points in the match to 4 by Tsitsipas. The Serbian, in all, won 172 points in the match to 149 by the Greek. Djokovic fired 5 Aces in the match to 7 by Tsitsipas. The Serbian committed 6 double faults to 5 by the Greek. Djokovic, the 2016 French Open Champion, won 6 games in a row in the match to 5 by the Greek. Djokovic’s winning percentage both on his first and second serve ( 72% & 56 %) was better than that of Tsitsipas’ ( 60 % & 53%).

Djokovic had taken four-sets to defeat Pablo Carreno Busta, 29, Spain, in QFs. Nadal, on the other hand, has not dropped a set in reaching the final. It will be third meeting between Djokovic and Nadal in French Open Final. Djokovic leads Nadal 29-26 Head to Head. Nadal, the winner of 19 Grand Slam singles titles, though leads Djokovic 17-7 on clay courts.
