Patna : Reigning Wimbledon and US Open Champion Novak Djokovic, 31, Serbia, beat Borna Coric, 21, Croatia, in straight sets in the final to win the Shanghai Open tennis championship for the fourth time on October 14, 2018. World No 3 Djokovic beat Coric, the World No 19, 6-3, 6-4 in the final to win his 32 ATP Masters title. It was also his 72nd ATP title. It was his 4th title of the year.
Shanghai Open is a ATP World Tour Masters 1,000 points tournament played on hard courts at Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena, Minhang, Shanghai, China. Coric had defeated defending champion Roger Federer, 37, in the semi-finals. With this win Djokovic will jump to World No 2 in the ATP rankings to be released on October 15, 2018. Coric’s ranking will also jump a few places in the rankings by reaching the final of Shanghai Open.
Djokovic served 7 Aces in the match to 3 by Coric. Djokovic also won 2 break points besides 3 games in a row. His winning percentage on both his first and second serve was much better than that of Coric in the match.
