Patna : World No 1 in ATP rankings and top seed Novak Djokovic, 31, Serbia, and 7th seed Roberto Bautista Agut, 30, Spain, entered the semi-finals of Qatar Open on January 3, 2019.
Djokovic beat World No 21 Nicoloz Basilasvili, 26, Georgia, in a tough three-set contest 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the quarter-finals. Djokovic fired 7 Aces in the match to 4 by Basilashvili. Both the players committed 3 double faults each. Djokovic won 4 break points while Basilashvili won 3. Djokovic had also taken three sets to beat Marton Fucsovics, Hungary, in the Round of 16.
World No 24 Agut beat World No 66 and winner of three Grand Slam titles Stan Wawrinka, 33, Sitzerland, 6-4, 6-4 in the quarter-finals. Wawrinka fired 7 Aces in the match to 2 by Agut. Agut, however, won 2 break points.
