Dimitrov, Shapovalov, Sousa & Harris enter QFs of ATP Chendu Open, China

Patna : Fourth seed Grigor Dimitrov, 28, Bulgaria, 8th seed Denis Shapovalov, 20, Canada, and World No 62 Joao Sousa, 30, Portugal, entered the QFs of ATP Chengdu Open, an ATO 250 points hrad courts event, at Sichuan International Tennis Center, Chengdu, China, on September 26, 2019.

World No 26 Dimitrov beat World No 48 Dan Evans, 29, Great Britain, 7-5, 7-5 in Round of 16. The Bulgarian fired 8 Aces in the match to 1 by Evans. He won 3 break points in the match to 1 by Evans. Dimitrov won 5 games in a row in the match to 3 by Evans. Dimitrov will face World No 71 Alexander Bublik, 22, Kazakhstan,  in the QFs on September 27, 2019. Bublik defeated World No 54 Jordan Thompson, 25, Australia, 6-4, 7-5 in Round of 16.

World No 34 Shapovalov beat World No 97 Bradley Klahn, 29, USA, in three-sets  3-6, 6-3, 7-6 in Round of 16. The Canadian fired 13 Aces in the match to 7 by Klahn. Both the players won 1 break point each in the match. Both of them also won 3 games in a row in the match.

Sousa upset 2nd seed and World No 20 Felix Auger Aliassime, 20, Canada,  6-4, 6-7, 6-4 in Round of 16 to enter the QFs. Aliassime, however, fired 22 Aces in the match to 5 by Sousa. But, Sousa won 2 break points in the match besides winning 3 games in a row.

World No 111 Lloyd Harris, 22,  South Africa, upset World No 29 Dusan Lajovic, 29, Serbia, 6-3, 6-3 to enter the QFs. He will face Joao Sousa in the QFs on September 27.
