Bokaro (Jharkhand) : DPS Bokaro in Jharkhand excelled at CBSE East Zone Swimming Championship 2019 by winning record 33 medals. The competition was held at DPS Gaya, from September 20 to 24, 2019, with around 60 schools across 3 states i.e Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand participating at it.

Shailey Priya bagged a gold medal in 50 meters freestyle (U-19) Girls category. Pratik Kumar, Vidit Jain, Sahil Shikhar, Archisman Chowdhry, Aditya Saraf, Ila Rani, Anubhuti Jha, Priyashree Dubey, Khushi Nandan and Shailey Priya bagged silver medals in different categories.  The team was coached by Rupesh Kumar, a DPS Bokaro teacher.

Principal, DPS Bokaro, A S Gangwar, expressed his happiness at the outstanding performance of the students and congratulated the winners. He said that persistence can change the ordinary into extra-ordinary achievement and it is the hard work of the students and their coach that has earned them this honour.
