Patna : A State Vigilance Investigation Bureau team from headquarters Patna on November 29, 2018, arrested Drug Inspector (DI), Dharbhanga, Awadhesh Kumar Singh, and his peon Rajendra Yadav accepting Rs 60,000 as bribe from Dr Ram Babu Kaitan, a resident of Shivaji Nagar under Town Police Station, Darbhanga. The Vigilance Bureau team headed by DSP Gopal Paswan arrested them from the office chamber of Drug Inspector Awadhesh Kumar Singh at Laheriasarai, Darbhanga.

Dr Ram Babu Khaitan, son of late Mahavir Prasad Khaitan, had lodged a complaint with State Vigilance Investigation Bureau alleging that Drug Inspector Awadhesh Kumar Singh and his peon Rajendra Yadav had demanded Rs 80,000 from him to restore the licence of his wife Lata Khaitan’s drug shop. The licence of Lata Khaitan’s drug shop was earlier suspended. During verification, the Vigilance Bureau found the allegation of Dr Ram Babu Khaitan true. A Vigilance Bureau Team then laid a   trap and arrested Drug Inspector Singh and his peon Rajendra Yadav accepting Rs 60,000 as bribe. The bureau team also seized another Rs 21,000 from the possession of Rajendra Yadav. The Vigilance Bureau had registered a case against them on November 28, 2018.
