Bagaha: Divisional forests officer (DFO), division one, under Valmiki tiger reserve (VTR) Alok Kumar had to postpone the meeting of Champapur and Banbari Eco Vikas Committee convened at Champapur Done village under Ramnagar block in West eeChamparan district 0n November 27, 2016.
The meeting was convened to distribute some materials among the members but the strong protest from Vanadhikar Samiti (forest rights committee) membrs of Naurangia Done and Champapur Karamahiya panchayats led by their Mukhiyas Gaurishankar Prasad and Aruna Maya Devi respectively and a large number of villagers including Tejpratap Kazi, Kiran Devi, Anant Kazi, Devaraj Mahto, Ramdulari Devi and Rajdhari Mahto forced DFO Alok Kumar to postpone the Eco Vi0kas Committee meeting and leave the venue with Raghia forest range officer B K Chaubey. They were he demanding implementation Scheduled Tribes and other traditional forests dwellers Act, 2006, and restoration of forest roads which had been closed by the VTR officials.
