Bagaha : Thousands of devotees thronged various Shiva temples across West Champaran district to celebrate Mahashivaratri with traditional enthusiasm and gaiety on February 24 morning . Devotees were seen standing in long queues at several Shiva temples including Jora Shivalay, Bettiah, Ekadas Jotirlinga, Kalibag, Shiva Shakti Peeth, Shreenagar, Narmadeshwar Neelkunth temple, Ramnagar, Bagaha Pakki -baoli, Jatashankar temple,Valmkinagar Tiger Reserve (VTR),  Valmikinagar, Shiva temple, Banawaria near Narakatiaganj and,Sofa Shiva temple at Goumaha.
A large number of devotees including girls and women performed puja to seek divine blessings. Many of them observed fast on the day. The devotees also performed ‘Shiva Aarti’ at different temples. Puja materials like milk, honey, curd , holy water, belpatra, flowers, fruits, sweets and coconuts  recorded huge sale on the premises of the temples. More than hundreds children of Tharu dominated Harnatand participated in a show of tableau of lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. A week long  mela has was also organised there.
