Gopalganj: Baliram Yadav’s prestige is at stake as demonetization is creating problems in his son’s marriage. Yadav is a native of village Dubwalia under Kuchaikot block in Gopalganj and marriage of his son is scheduled for December 12, 2016. His problem is that he is not able to draw adequate cash from local banks. His son’s `Tilak’ceremony has been fixed on December 8. He has Rs 4.9 lakh in his account in Semara Gramin Bank. Yadav had heaved a sigh of relief when the central government allowed drawal of Rs 2.50 lakh and reached the bank to draw the cash.

Yadav was shocked when he was denied cash by the bank. After two days, the bank manager asked him to draw cash from local State Bank of India (SBI) and transferred Rs 2 lakh into Yadav’s account. When Yadav reached SBI, the bank employees asked him to come after December 8 after the cash is transferred into his account. He took the matter to the district administration. After that Lead Bank manager Anil Kumar intervened and talked to the manager of Semara Gramin Bank directing him to pay cash to Yadav from bank’s chest. However, the bank’s regional manager Anil Kumar Singh said that the bank has 64 branches and if he gave cash to Yadav, members of the bank union would create problems. The Lead Bank manager advised Yadav to draw Rs 24,000 cash from SBI and asked him to make some alternate arrangements for his son’s marriage.
