Delpo, Fognini, Edmund, Basilashvili enter SF of China Open

Patna : World No 4 Juan Martin del Porto, 30, Argentina, World No 13 Fabio Fognini, 31, Italy, World No 16 Kyle Edmund, 23, UK, and World No 34 Nikoloz Basilashvili, 26, Georgia, entered the semi-finals (SF) of China Open tennis championship, an ATP World Tour 500 event, at Beijing on October 5, 2018.

Top seed Delpo beat World No 36 Filip Krajinovic, 26, Srbia, 6-3, 6-0 in the quarter-finals. Delpo fired 12 Aces in the match to just 1 by Krajinovic. Delpo won 5 break points too besides winning 8 games in a row.

Fognini beat World No 45 Marton Fucsovics, 26, Hungary, 6-4, 6-4 in the quarter-finals. Fucsovics committed 6 double faults in the match to just 1 by Fognini. Fognini won three break points compared to just 1 by Fucsovics. Fucsovics though served 4 Aces to just 2 by Fognini. Fognini will play Delpo in the semi-finals.

Edmund defeated World No 55 Dusan Lajovic, 28, Serbia, 6-3, 7-6 in the quarter-finals. Lajovic though served 7 Aces in the match to 3 by Edmund. Edmund committed 2 double faults in the match.

Basilashvili beat World No 61 Malek Jaziri, 34, Tunisia, in the quarter-finals 6-2, 6-2 to enter the semi-finals. Basilashvili served 6 Aces in the match to 3 by Jaziri. Jaziri committed 5 double faults to 2 by his rival. Basilashvili also won 4 break points besides winning 5 games in a row. Basilashvili will play Edmund in the SF.
