Patna : Delhi Capitals (DC) scored a competitive 172/5 in 20 overs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL Qualifier 1 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, UAE, on October 10, 2021, night, as opener Prthvi Shaw scored 60 in 34 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes while captain Rishabh Pant (wk) and Shimron Hetmyer added 83 runs for the 5th wicket. Pant remained unbeaten on 51 in 35 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. CSK had won the toss and opted to bowl.
Batting first, DC lost the wicket of opener Shikhar Dhawan with 36 runs on board. Dhawan fell to fast medium bowler Josh Hazlewood for 7. Shreyas Iyer also fell to Hazlewood for 1 in 6th over making it 50/2. Spinner Axar Patel was promoted to No 4 in batting order but did not last long and fell to spinner Moeen Ali for 10 and it was 77/3 after 9.4 overs.
Opener Prithvi Shaw fell to spinner Ravindra Jadeja making it 80/4. Shaw hit fast medium bowler Shardul Thakur for 2 sixes in 5th over. Earlier, he had hit Deepak Chahar for 4 fours in 3rd over. Hetmyer fell to fast medium bowler Dwayne Bravo for 37 in 24 balls with 3 fours and 1 six and it was 163/5.
