Patna : Australian fast bowlers Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood destroyed Indian batting order in the first session of play on Day 3 in the second innings of 1st Test at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide, Australia, on December 19, 2020,  reducing them to 36/9 in only 21.2 overs, India’s lowest score in test cricket as Mohd Shami (1) retired out due to injury.. Australia requires only 90 runs to win this pink ball test as India had taken a first innings lead of 53 runs. Australia were 15/0 after 5 overs in their 2nd innings at dinner.

Hazlewood took 5/8 in 5 overs three of which were maiden while Pat Cummins took 4/21 in 10.2 overs. The mighty Indian batting order collapsed in the face of fast and furious bowling by Cummins and Hazlewood displaying pathetic batting skills.

Resuming at their overnight score of 9/1, India were soon 19/6 after 13.4 overs losing the wickets of Jasprit Bumrah (2), Cheteshwar Pujara (0), Mayank Aggarwal (9), Ajinkya Rahane (0), and captain Virat Kohli (4). India lost 4 wickets when the score was 15. Hanuma Vihari scored 8 runs while Wriddhiman aha scored 4 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin was out for a duck.  None of the Indian batsmen could reach double figure in the second innings.
