Patna : Chennai Super Kings (CSK) scored a competitive 188/7 in 20 overs against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2nd match of IPL 2021 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on April 10, 2021, night, with Suresh Raina scoring a brilliant 54 in 36 balls hitting 3 fours and 4 sixes, Moeen Ali scoring 36 in 24 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes, and all-rounder Sam Curran scoring 34 in 15 balls hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes. DC had won the toss but opted to bowl.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 26 in 17 balls with 3 fours while captain M S Dhoni fell to fast medium bowler Avesh Khan for zero.  CSK had a disastrous start losing their first two wicket with only 7 runs on board. Opener Faf du Plessis fell to Avesh Khan for zero making it 7/1. His opening partner Ruturaj Gaikwad fell to fast bowler Chris Woakes for 5 making it 7/2.

But, Moeen Ali and Suresh Raina steadied the CSK innings adding 53 runs for the 3rd wicket. Moeen Ali fell to spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and it was 60/3. Ambati Rayudu fell to Tom Curran for 23 in 16 balls hitting 1 four and 2 sixes and it was 123/4. Raina and Rayudu added 63 runs for the 4th wicket. Suresh Raina was run out for 54 making it 137/5. At the same score, captain M S Dhoni fell to Avesh Khan making it 137/6. Sam Curran and Jadeja added 51 runs for the 7th wicket. Sam Curran hit elder brother Tom Curran for 2 sixes and 1 four on successive balls in 19th over.  Sam Curran was out on the last ball of the 20th over. DC spinners Ashwin and Amit Mishra were taken to cleaners by Moeen Ali, Suresh Raina, and Ambatai Rayudu.

In reply, DC were  9/0 after 1 over.
