CSK beat SRH by 8 wickets to lift IPL trophy 3rd time, Watson hits ton

Patna : Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 8 wickets in the final of IPL 2018 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on May 27, 2018, to lift the IPL champioship trophy for the third time riding on an explosive unbeaten 57 ball 117 with 11 fours and 8 sixes by their opener Shane Wantson, Australia.

Wantson completed his century in 51 ball, his second century in Vivo IPL 2018. Set a target of 179 to win the IPL trophy, CSK made 181/2 in 18.3 overs only. Watson hit SRH pacer Sandip Sharma for 3 consecutive six and 2 fours in the 13th over. Suresh Raina made 32 in 24 ball hitting 3 fours and a six. SRH spinner Rashid Khan failed to take any wicket in the final though he gave away only 24 runs in 4 overs. Sandip Sharma took 1/52 in 4 overs. Carlos Brathwaite took 1/27 in 2.3 overs.

CSK had won the toss but opted to bowl. SRH scored 178/6 in 20 overs riding on 47 by captain Kane Williamson and an unbeaten 45 by Yusuf Pathan.
